Live GPS tracking with Bouncie

Plug a Bouncie tracker into a car's OBD port and FleetGrow turns into mission control: every vehicle on a live map, odometers that update themselves, full trip history, and health alerts before a renter ever calls you.

What you need

  • A Bouncie account and at least one Bouncie OBD tracker installed in a vehicle (sold separately at bouncie.com, with Bouncie's own per-device subscription).
  • A FleetGrow workspace — open Bouncie in the sidebar to connect, no plan upgrade needed.

Connect your Bouncie account

Open Bouncie in the sidebar and click Connect Bouncie. You'll land on Bouncie's own sign-in page — log in with your Bouncie credentials, tick the vehicles you want FleetGrow to see, and hit Authorize Access.

Select all vehicles: On the authorization screen, use Select All rather than ticking cars one by one — the grant is per-vehicle, so anything unticked stays invisible to FleetGrow.

That's the whole setup. FleetGrow keeps the connection alive on its own — there are no tokens to copy and nothing to configure on Bouncie's side.

The live map

The Bouncie page is a full-screen map. Every tracked vehicle gets a pin with its name and license plate; the selected one is highlighted, the rest are dimmed. While a car is driving, its pin moves in near-real-time and draws the route behind it.

  • Trips tab — the vehicle's drives grouped by day, with distance, average / top speed, fuel used, idle time and harsh-driving events. Tap a trip to draw its exact route on the map.
  • Stats tab — odometer, current speed, miles this month, fuel gauge, and a check-engine alert with diagnostic codes when the light is on.
  • Details tab — VIN, device IMEI, battery state, last update time, and the link to your FleetGrow car.
  • Health strip — Fuel / Battery / Engine / Device at a glance, with badges when something needs attention.

In the Details tab, click Link to fleet car…. FleetGrow matches the tracker to your fleet by VIN and pre-selects the right car — confirm and the two become one vehicle: the map pin shows the car's plate, and the car's page gets a Live location card right on its overview.

Heads up: Linking switches the car's odometer to Auto — from that moment mileage is written by the tracker and manual edits are locked (you can switch back any time, see below).

Automatic odometer

A linked car's mileage updates itself — the moment a trip ends, the odometer in FleetGrow matches the dashboard. Service reminders, cost-per-mile and reports all run off the real number with zero typing.

To switch between automatic and manual mileage, click the car's mileage anywhere (the header tile or a fleet card) — the mileage dialog has an Odometer source switch: Manual or Auto. In Auto the reading only ever moves forward, and every synced update is recorded in the car's mileage history.

Trips & vehicle health

  • Check engine — the instant a linked car's check-engine light comes on, the workspace admin gets an email with the exact diagnostic codes (e.g. P0420), and the map flags the vehicle.
  • Battery — a low or critical 12-volt battery triggers the same kind of alert, so a car that's been parked too long never surprises you.
  • Driving behavior — hard braking and hard acceleration counts on every trip help settle disputes and spot rough renters.

Adding another tracker

Bought another Bouncie device? Install it, add it to your Bouncie account as usual — and then click Reconnecton FleetGrow's Bouncie page (it's next to Refresh; there's also a shortcut at the bottom of the vehicle picker).

Why reconnect: Bouncie's authorization is per-vehicle. A brand-new tracker isn't part of the grant you gave earlier, so it stays invisible until you re-run the authorization and Select Allvehicles on Bouncie's screen. Takes about ten seconds; nothing else is affected.

Using it on your phone

  • The panel is a bottom sheet — drag the handle to three positions: hidden (pure map), half, or full screen.
  • The vehicle picker sits at the top of the screen; Live status, Refresh and Disconnect live in the header.
  • The map pans and zooms with one finger, even while the sheet is open.
